Our 'Hula is Hawaii Crop T' draws inspiration from Sam Potter's latest film, 'Hula is Hawaii', which delves into the profound beauty and cultural significance of Hula. 

The artwork portrays three dancers gracefully performing 'Au'a ia beneath Kahili mountain on the island of Kauai. Not only does the art hold profound relevance to our film, but it also resonates deeply with Hawaiian culture. 'Au'a ia, in many respects, serves as a rallying cry for the people of Hawaii, urging them to cling steadfastly to their heritage and stand resilient in the face of adversity.

The art was done by Hanja Pua - a local artist of Oahu - who also did the animation for our film.

"For me, the Koa'e represents the humble beauty that can be found here in the day-to-day life of Hawaii. In the early mornings of Waimea Canyon, you can watch the Koa'e jump from their nests nestled amongst their Mauka (mountainside) home, ride the island's thermal currents up into the sky, and then head Makai (oceanside). Where they spend their days fishing. It's in these small details, small stories, small actions - that you learn why Hawaii is so damn special."
